We foster the relationships we build with our RNs and pride ourselves on taking very good care of the nurses that travel with us.
We truly care about our nurses.
All Travel RN candidates are required to have at least 2-3 years of nursing as well as MEDITECH experience. Every traveler must also have ACLS certification; some facilities also require RNs to have Stroke and Trauma certifications as well.
You will be provided with a rent-free, fully furnished and ready-to-move into apartment (we also offer a monthly housing allowance if you choose to find your own place). All you have to do is bring your linens and housewares. Typical set-ups include a TV, microwave and all included utilities. Complexes may feature work out facilities, a tennis court and swimming pool. Amenities will differ depending on your location and what is available at the time. We try to keep our travelers in close proximity to the facility they are assigned.
Why choose Parallon?
We offer a referral bonus program if you refer a friend that we place for an assignment. Once your referral completes a 13-week assignment you will receive a $250 referral bonus.
Working as travel nurse certainly has its advantages — from following the seasons to working convenient 13-week assignments in desirable locations. But, we’re sure you have a lot of questions. Below you will find the answers to commonly asked questions about being a travel nurse.
How do I become a Parallon travel nurse? You can speak to a Parallon travel nurse recruiter by calling 1-800-737-8661 x1745 or follow this link to fill out a form and someone will contact you.
What is the process like, how long does it typically take?Once the recruiter has your completed application, the process of choosing the positions and having your profile submitted to the hospital can take place very quickly. The facilities will review your profile and decide which candidates they will call to complete a phone interview. Sometimes this takes place on the same day, or it can take several days depending on the interview process at the particular facility.
What types of positions are available? We have positions for both RN’s in all specialties and Allied Healthcare Professionals. The availability of any particular position varies day-to-day based on the needs of the facility. Check our homepage for up to date openings for all of our specialties.
Do I need to sign a contract?Yes, you will be required to sign a contract for the position that you accept an offer for.
How will I be placed? You will submit your application to your Healthcare Recruiter. Your application will be sent to facilities that are offering positions you are interested in. Once you have a telephone interview, you will make the decision to accept an offer if one is made. At that point, you will work with our QA department to get in the necessary paperwork to be compliant to work at the facility. First day instructions will be sent to you and you will start your assignment on your contracted date.
What certifications/requirements must I meet to be eligible for a travel position? The certifications and requirements vary based on the position. The Healthcare Recruiter you are working with will be able to explain this to you on a case-by-case basis.
What if I don't like my assignment?Like all new experiences, there is always a period of adjustment when someone starts a new assignment. Usually, after you settle in and become comfortable in the new clinical setting, you will have a happy experience and in many cases ask to extend it.
What is the average length of the assignments offered?Thirteen weeks with the opportunity to extend an additional 13 weeks in many cases.
What are my benefits and pay options? Is my package customizable? All of our packages are customizable and they will vary from hospital to hospital. To find out more you can speak to a Parallon travel nurse recruiter by calling 1-800-737-8661 x1745 or follow this link to fill out a form and someone will contact you.
Do you provide housing, insurance and travel reimbursements? We have options for housing where we can house you or provide you with a monthly housing stipend that allows you to choose your own housing. We do provide a monthly, tax-free health insurance allowance, which gives you the freedom to purchase an insurance plan that suits your own individual needs. Travel reimbursements can be part of the package, depending on if it’s a benefit you’d like to have included in your package.
Do you offer any training/continuing education?Every facility conducts an orientation as part of your introduction to the facility. During this orientation there are different trainings that take place. We currently don’t offer continuing education.
Is each state different in terms of their certification/licensing requirements? Some states are part of what we call the “Compact” where they have reciprocity with licensure and aren’t required to get a new nursing license to work in another Compact state. There are states that do require you to get a new license in order to work in their state. Again, this is something your Healthcare Recruiter will know and can guide you. Certifications required will also vary by position.
What are the advantages of working with Parallon? We offer more opportunities than any other travel company. We have the best pay rates and packages in the industry. Our team of professional recruiters is very experienced and will be able to guide you through the process making it an easy transition for you.
